UCF NORTH FLORIDA EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Advanced Emergency Medicine Clerkship

A welcoming, high-responsibility sub-internship designed to bridge the transition from medical school to residency.

FROM THE CLERKSHIP DIRECTOR

Dear Medical Students,

We would be thrilled to have you join us for your emergency medicine sub-internship. Our Advanced Emergency Medicine Clerkship is designed to bridge the transition from medical school to residency through meaningful clinical responsibility, close supervision, and real-time teaching.

From your first shift, you will function as part of the emergency department team — evaluating patients, developing management plans, performing bedside procedures, and receiving immediate feedback from both a teaching resident and attending physician. Our high-acuity community environment provides the volume and variety to build confidence while our faculty and residents remain directly invested in your development.

We want you to leave the rotation with a clearer understanding of emergency medicine, stronger clinical skills, and a genuine sense of what life in our residency is like. Bring your curiosity and willingness to work; we will provide the teaching, mentorship, and opportunities to grow.
